Hi, I’m Eric. I live in the Garden City, Christchurch. I’m originally from Hamilton, the Mighty Waikato - but give me the dry heat and the cold winters anytime- as much as I like to moan about the weather!
I’m a research assistant/peer and patient support at The Rose Centre for stroke research and rehabilitation. If I’m not at work, watching a movie or moaning about the weather I’m at the gym- staying active and healthy is very important to me.
I am so grateful for many things in my life- the love and support of my family and friends, and having been accepted onto Be. Leadership. I’ve grown so much already. I used to have so much to say but not know how to say it with confidence- now that’s beginning to change and we’re only halfway!
I love to help others in any way I can. After my stroke at 33 I have expertise to give and want to set up a young stroke survivors’ group- I believe caregivers, family and friends need to be included in these groups as much as the stroke survivors themselves. I feel I’m in the right place at the right time to be able to use my experiences to help others.
