My name is Leia, I love chai, weekend rambles, and red pandas. I'm a Briwi - half Brit, half Kiwi. Having lived in Aotearoa for over half my life now, I've grown very fond this lovely place I now call home. This appreciation deepened following a dark period of mental distress that I experienced. It was in that time that I learnt how the system is very much stacked against those who have access needs. It was only when I began working with and for people, that I was able to overcome it.
My passion lies in being part of creating an equitable community, where everyone has fair access and a level playing field. I've been involved with various community organisations in both my work and personal life that are striving toward this goal in different ways.
The chance to mix with likeminded people is what drew me to Be Leadership. Together there is so much good mahi that we can do. Connecting with others is such a great way to expand my perspective and develop myself into the kind of leader that I believe we need; compassionate, idealistic, and creative.
