I’m Maddy. I'm a daughter, a sister, an aunty, a Cantabrian, an administrator and an avid knitter. But more than that, I'm an advocate for an accessible future. One where we don't just have accessible spaces but every space is accessible to everyone.
As a former athlete and New Zealand record holder in both track and field, I always thought of leadership as one person ahead of the pack, the top dog. Nowadays I realise it takes the whole pack to create real change and that the best leaders are the ones at ground level listening and encouraging those around them to find their full potential.
I believe everyone has a right to have a say and a responsibility to help the voices of the oppressed be heard over the noise of the oppressors. Social justice is what fuels the passion in my heart and in 2020 that fire is burning brighter than ever.
